Geocaching at Henderson Conservation Area - September 13

Media Release
September 9, 2009

Explore L.C. Henderson Conservation Area with a “Geocaching Twist” on Sunday September 13th. Eleven caches or treasures, including five new caches, have been hidden on site for participants to find with GPS technology.

“Once found, caches are logged and left hidden for the next person to find. Participants will experience an exciting method of discovering both familiar and new trails using GPS technology. There are over 895,594 caches hidden world wide. In the past 7 days, there have been 803,232 new logs written by 99,488 geocachers.” says Sharon Nethercott, Conservation Education Coordinator. “Geocaching is a great way of learning local Natural History.” Staff will be on hand to assist participants in finding the hidden treasures. A limited number of GPS receivers will be available to borrow, with proper identification.

The event runs from 9:00-3:00 and admission fees to the Conservation Area will be waived that day. The Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area is located 4 kilometres west of Petrolia on Petrolia Line.
