A.W.
Campbell Memorial Scholarship is presented in memory of
Archibald Campbell. Mr. Campbell was born in 1888 and lived in a
house that has been preserved as the Campbell House Museum at
the A.W. Campbell Conservation Area in the former Brooke
Township. Mr. Campbell was a farmer and an ardent
conservationist.
Through his will, the Campbell farm was able to be purchased by
the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority so that future
generations would be able to enjoy the forests and rolling
landscape of his property. Mr. Campbell died in 1965. This
scholarship was made possible through a donation to a trust fund
by two private individuals.
Tony
Stranak Conservation Scholarships are presented in memory of
Tony Stranak, former mayor of the Town of Dresden and past
Conservation Authority Board member. The scholarships are funded
through a trust fund established through donations from
community organizations and municipalities in recognition of Mr.
Stranak’s long years of community service.
Mary Jo Arnold was a summer employee of the St. Clair Region
Conservation Authority who passed away as a result of a car
accident on July 13, 2009. Mary Jo was a spirited young woman
who had passion for life. In her memory, the Mary Jo Arnold
Conservation Scholarship has been established through donations
from family and friends. This scholarship will provide a lasting
legacy which will help other young women in their pursuit of a
post secondary education in conservation.
