The Sansin Corporation Donates 40 Deciduous Trees to St. Clair
Conservation for Planting at Yorkview Community Park

Conservation will break ground on Earth Day, April 22nd at 10:00 am at a
tree planting ceremony
The Sansin Corporation today announced that it will donate 40 large
stock deciduous trees to the St. Clair Conservation Authority. The
donated trees will be planted on parkland in Strathroy-Caradoc to create
a natural canopy and restore habitat and green space in a popular, local
park.
Specifically, the trees will be planted at the Yorkview Community Park
around the largest baseball diamond, on Earth Day, April 22nd at 10:00
am at a ceremonial planting, with representatives from Sansin,
Strathroy-Caradoc and St. Clair Conservation Authority in conjunction
with the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority’s Annual Environmental
Clean Up Day. An Evergreen grant assisted with the planting of trees
around the pitches at the Strathroy Henk Van Dyk Soccer Park in 2009.
“Sansin is dedicated to our local community and being environmentally
responsible, so donating trees to a local park was an excellent way to
show our support for both important causes,” said Sjoerd Bos, vice
president of the Sansin Corporation. “Kids will benefit greatly from
being surrounded by trees, especially on warm days when a natural canopy
can provide welcome shade.”
Sansin is also sponsoring an Earth Day Challengea free, deciduous tree
seedling giveaway to encourage businesses and homeowners to plant trees
in our community.
“We are very thankful to Sansin for the contribution to our community –
the home of their organization,” stated Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Mel
Veale. Tim Hanna, Strathroy-Caradoc’s Director of Recreation and Leisure
Services added, “this is the second phase of planting we are undertaking
with the Authority in and around the sportsfields and it will complete
the 2008 planting plan, with a total of 90 trees that will provide shade
adjacent to the soccer pitches, baseball diamonds, basketball courts and
playground areas of the park.”
“This is a great way to celebrate Earth Day,” Brian McDougall, Director
of Watershed Services for the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority
said. “We are pleased to be partnering with the Sansin Corporation and
the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc to plant trees in the community.”
