The Strathroy Conservation Area received a helping hand thanks to the efforts of Bonduelle employees and a donation of $10,000. The project began with a clean-up of the park and trail area followed by the construction of trails, benches and picnic areas including a wheel chair accessible picnic table.
“This project is part of Bonduelle’s mission of creating healthy lifestyles,” Butch Siebenmorgen, Strathroy Plant Manager for Bonduelle said. “Providing resources for the building of picnic areas and through our staff volunteers with this project, we are giving back to the community that supports us,” Siebenmorgen said. The plant was founded in 1983 as Strathroy Foods and today is owned and operated by Bonduelle. As an established industry leader in the processing, packaging and distribution of quality frozen vegetables, Bonduelle is the supplier of the Arctic Gardens brand.
“The Conservation Area is an important part of community, Kevan Baker, Director of Lands for the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority said. “We are very appreciative for the support of Bonduelle and for the enthusiastic participation of their staff in making this project a reality. The real winner is the community that can enjoy the improvements to the Conservation Area.”
Through this project 400 metres of new trail were constructed along the lake, four picnic tables on cement pads (including one wheel chair accessible table) were constructed and two park benches were installed along the new lake trail.
