This series of webpages traces the history of the A.W. Campbell Conservation Area and Campbell House, from the Campbell family’s arrival in Canada and establishment of their homestead in the mid-1800s to the property’s transformation into a public conservation area in the 1960s. It highlights the life and legacy of Archibald W. Campbell, whose commitment to nature and conservation helped preserve the land for public use, as well as the later development of recreational facilities, outdoor education programs, and efforts to protect the historic farmhouse. Although Campbell House was ultimately removed in 2026, the property continues to reflect the Campbell family’s lasting connection to the land and Archie Campbell’s vision of conservation, education, and community enjoyment.
