Road Closures:

• Waterworks Road between Courtright Line and Moore Line

A low pressure system with a leading warm front is expected to bring 5mm of rain to the region today, followed by an anticipated 15-20mm of rain Thursday with a possibility for thunderstorms. Periods of intense rain are possible, with increased precipitation possible in localized areas.

Into Friday, a cold front trailing a low pressure system is forecasted to bring another 10 mm of rain, followed by approximately 20 mm of rain on Saturday. Scattered rain showers are also predicted for Sunday, bringing an additional 1-3 mm.

Recent rainfall in addition to the forecasted rain is anticipated to result in water levels rising and remaining elevated into next week as the water makes its way through the rivers. Localized flooding in floodplain areas, parks and farm fields throughout the region is possible. Soils are anticipated to be saturated in certain areas across the watershed, resulting in the potential for increased flooding and runoff.

River banks are expected to be slippery, with possible minor erosion. Residents are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to slippery banks and cold, swift moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.

The Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise.

Municipal emergency response staff and road superintendents should monitor local conditions closely.
