Four outstanding students from across the St. Clair Region watershed have been awarded conservation scholarships by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA), recognizing their academic achievements and commitment to environmental stewardship.

Tyson Lozon, from Wallaceburg District Secondary School in Wallaceburg, and Eliana Severs, from Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School in Sarnia were both awarded with the 2026 A.W. Campbell Memorial Scholarship.

This fall, Tyson will be attending the University of Western Ontario to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He hopes to address pressing environmental challenges through the development of sustainable technologies and environmentally responsible designs that will preserve ecosystems and promote responsible resource use. Eliana will also be pursuing an Engineering degree at Queen’s University with aspirations of developing innovative environmental solutions to infrastructure challenges.

Josie Van Dellen, a Wallaceburg resident who attended École secondaire catholique de Pain Court in Pain Court was awarded the Tony Stranak Conservation Scholarship. Josie will attend the University of Guelph to pursue a degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation.

The Mary Jo Arnold Conservation Scholarship was awarded to Areya Young from Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School in Sarnia. She will be attending the University of Waterloo in the Climate and Environmental Change program.

The scholarship recipients were formally presented with their awards by the Chair of the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority, Greg Grimes. “These students have demonstrated a remarkable commitment to both academic excellence and environmental stewardship,” said Grimes. “Their passion for protecting and enhancing the natural environment gives us confidence in the future of conservation. We are proud to support them as they take the next step in their educational journeys and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on their communities and beyond.”

The scholarships are made possible through trust funds established by the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation and its donors. This year, a total of $3,000 was awarded to students across the St. Clair Region.
