Highlights:
- Cooler temperatures returning to the watershed with light snowfall
- Significant reduction in snowpack over the last 48 hours with 20 to 40mm of rain across the watershed
- Localized flooding into floodplain and park areas across the region
- Potential road closures
Water levels have been climbing over the past 24 hours and have resulted in over-bank flooding into floodplain areas as the precipitation and melting snow from the last 48 hours continues to drain through the watershed. Localized flooding will continue to expand in low lying areas throughout today and into Tuesday morning, mostly in agricultural and parkland areas.
Water levels in the upper areas of the watershed are expected to begin to fall overnight, while the levels in the lower watershed areas are expected to begin falling tomorrow once the rain and any remaining snowmelt is complete as a result of the above normal temperatures. No significant additional precipitation is anticipated over the next 24 hours
Roads impacted by high water levels include:
St. Clair Township:
- Waterworks Road near Stanley Road
- Pretty Road near Stanley Road
Additional roads and watercourses may continue to be affected however conditions are expected to improve overnight and into Tuesday. Municipal emergency response staff and road superintendents should review emergency response plans and monitor local conditions closely. Additional bulletins will be issued should conditions change.
Residents are reminded to avoid watercourses and flood areas due to slippery banks and cold and swift moving water.
The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority will monitor the flood condition of the watersheds in the region and will provide warnings to municipal officials and media in the event conditions develop which could result in the potential of more severe flooding.
Update: As required.
