SCRCA Hosts Dr. Dianne Saxe for Special Presentation – Why Wetlands Matter

Picture of Dr. Dianne SaxeThe St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) is inviting our watershed residents to a special presentation by Dr. Dianne Saxe on Monday, September 13, 2021.

Dr. Saxe is an internationally recognized environmental lawyer and the former Environmental Commissioner of Ontario. Dr. Saxe has devoted her career to stand up for and protect the natural systems that our lives depend on and provide strategic advice on how to improve both organizational and individual practices to respond to and reduce the impacts of climate change.

In her presentation, “Why Wetlands Matter”, Dr. Saxe will highlight the importance of wetlands in maintaining a healthy and resilient ecosystem and how they play a crucial role in fighting against the impacts of climate change. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions following the presentation.

About Us

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority is located in southwestern Ontario and includes the Sydenham River watershed and smaller watersheds draining directly into southern Lake Huron, the St. Clair River, and northeastern Lake St. Clair.

The Conservation Authority implements programs to reduce the risk to life and property from flooding and erosion; water and land stewardship; forestry; wildlife habitat creation and outdoor recreation.
