Environment Canada has issued a Gale Warning for Southern Lake Huron. North/northwesterly winds are anticipated to gust upwards of 65 km/h over the lake today, subsiding this evening. Waves at 2 metres are predicted to build to 3 metres near noon, subsiding to 2 metres this evening and further decreasing overnight.

The forecast is also indicating south/southwesterly wind gusts upwards of 55 km/h for Lake St. Clair, beginning Saturday afternoon and continuing into Sunday morning.

Residents along these shorelines may experience increased wave action and storm surge as a result of the winds, with the possibility of erosion.

Individuals are reminded to avoid shorelines, watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks and cold, swift moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.

The Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise.

Municipal emergency response staff and road superintendents should monitor local conditions closely.
