April 8, 2020 – The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) is actively monitoring the ever-evolving COVID-19 pandemic closely and is adjusting organizational practices and procedures accordingly.
Based on the recommendations by local, provincial and federal health authorities, the SCRCA has made the difficult decision to delay the opening of the A.W. Campbell, Lorne C. Henderson and Warwick Conservation Areas to campers. All overnight camping reservations from April 24th to May 13th, 2020, have been cancelled and full refunds will be issued automatically. Refunds should be received within 7-10 business days.
The SCRCA understands the frustration and disappointment our visitors may have with this decision, but the health and safety of our communities and staff is of paramount importance. The opening of the camping season will be determined based on the guidance of health officials.
The trail systems at all SCRCA conservation areas are currently open to the public, however, those visiting must comply with social distancing practices and should not travel or meet-up with people from outside of their main residence. Trail maintenance may be limited, gates are locked, and washroom facilities, play structures, and picnic areas are closed. Please be advised that the SCRCA is prepared to close conservation areas if deemed necessary.
In addition, the SCRCA continues to implement policies and procedures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic:
- All SCRCA facilities will continue to be closed to the public indefinitely – Members of the public are asked to communicate with Authority employees by telephone or email;
- Staff will continue to work remotely from home;
- Our Emergency Response Team (ERT) will ensure the delivery of essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic. These services include flood forecasting and warning; communications; municipal support; general administration and corporate services; and property oversight. Select staff will provide these services out of the Administration Office in Strathroy and will continue to practice social distancing and maintain enhanced cleaning and sanitizing procedures;
- Staff will continue to respond to inquiries, however, some delay in response time should be anticipated.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
