- Special Weather Statement for Wallaceburg, Dresden
- Upwards of 65 mm rainfall in next 24 hours
- Risk of overland flow, flash flooding
- Potential for ponding, minor flooding into natural floodplains
Rain is anticipated to be heavy at times and amounts may vary between locations, particularly those experiencing convective systems (thunderstorms). High intensity rainfall has the potential to exceed drainage basin infiltration rates which can lead to urban flooding of roads. Intense rainfall may also lead to overland flow and scouring of fields, ponding in low-lying areas, and minor flooding into natural floodplain areas and parks. Residents may experience a sharp rise in riverine water levels due to the high intensity and short duration of this event.
Residents are reminded to avoid shorelines, watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks and swift moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.
The Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise.
Municipal emergency response staff and road superintendents should monitor local conditions closely.
