In 2025, the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) initiated the development of a Master Plan for the A.W. Campbell Conservation Area in the Municipality of Brooke-Alvinston. The purpose of the Master Plan is to establish an updated vision and clear objectives to guide future decision-making and management of the Conservation Area.
Thank you to everyone who reviewed the draft plan and shared their feedback. More than 40 comments and responses were received and, where appropriate, have been incorporated into the final document.
The SCRCA’s Board of Directors approved the Final A.W. Campbell Conservation Area Master Plan on December 11th.
A Note on Implementation Timelines
The Final A.W. Campbell Conservation Area Master Plan outlines general management recommendations and provides estimated costs for their implementation. Specific timelines were not included, as implementation will depend on the availability of funding through grants, donations, and conservation area revenue, which can vary from year to year.
In addition, all three of the SCRCA’s regional campgrounds require significant septic system upgrades. These upgrades represent a substantial financial investment and will impact conservation area reserves. As a result, time will be required for the Authority to recover from these costs before advancing additional projects.

The A.W. Campbell Conservation Area spans 134 hectares and is made up of forest, two engineered reservoirs, meadowland, and recreational areas including 130 seasonal and overnight campsites.
