Watershed Conditions Statement – Flood Watch

Message: Elevated water levels
| Over the past two days, the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority watershed has received between 40-80mm of rain. As a result, water levels across the watershed are elevated. It is expected that the flows in Strathroy and Alvinston will peak sometime this afternoon. Due to the increase in runoff localized flooding in low-lying areas; floodplains, agricultural, and parkland is anticipated.
As water levels continue to rise, the following roads may become impacted:
Individuals are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks, and cold, swift-moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways. The Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise. Municipal emergency response staff and road superintendents should monitor local conditions closely. This message will remain in effect until Monday, July 15, 2024, at 12pm unless otherwise updated. |
