Message: Heavy rain at times
| Environment Canada is tracking a cold front that is making its way through the St. Clair Region. This storm has the potential to produce 10 to 30 mm, with higher amounts in localized areas due to thunderstorms. Ground conditions are likely to be very reactive due to the heavy rains the region received in mid-July. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Due to the potential intensity of the storms, water levels are expected to rise rapidly and produce localized runoff. High amounts of rainfall in a short period of time can lead to pooling on roads and flash flooding. Individuals are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks, and cold, swift-moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water. The Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise. Municipal emergency response staff and road superintendents should monitor local conditions closely. This message will remain in effect until Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 12pm unless otherwise updated. |
